People seek counselling for all sorts of reasons and although I can openly discuss this now at the time of seeking help I was unable to say the word ‘counselling’ or ‘therapy’.
I had been suffering with stress for quite sometime and a friend of mine had recommended going for a few sessions with Rob. She had previously seen him for hypnotherapy for exam stress. It took me several months to find the courage to contact him and pick up the phone. I was very sceptical and went with an open mind as I felt I had no other avenues to explore but knew I couldn’t continue as I was.
The first session was very easy and Rob is so welcoming. It was structured so it felt like a chat and he didn’t ask me directly why I was there. I kept thinking please don’t ask my why I am here as I don’t know what to say.
The hypnotherapy is a unique experience and I had the option of sitting in the chair or to lay on the couch. On the first taster session I decided to stay in the chair as felt very uncomfortable to lay down. Quite quickly I realised I was very susceptible to the hypnotherapy and actually I found it much better and more relaxing to lay on the couch.
Over my sessions many emotions have been explored and the sessions and goals we set are guided by me.
I find the hypnotherapy very relaxing and releases any stresses I have going on at the time.
I have now learnt through counselling and hypnotherapy many new coping strategies and mechanisms when dealing with stressful or hurtful situations. I now feel much more in control of my emotions whereas prior to he sessions I had no control of these. My relationship with my husband has gone from strength to strength and prior to the sessions there were points I thought we would not pull through.
I have recommended Rob to a few friends who have been going through similar situations.
